I must say, Hillary Clinton did her thing last night. She gave a good speech, hitting almost all the points But according to the pundits, she missed one which the Republican’s pounced on right away. Their response to her speech was, in all that she said, she still didn’t express her belief that Barack is ready to lead. However, what she did, that was important, was point out the reasons why this country can’t have four more years of the last eight years.

Her best lines were, “No Way. No How. No McCain.” And also, “…it makes sense that George Bush and John McCain will be together next week in the Twin Cities. Because these days they’re awfully hard to tell apart.“

At the end of her speech, someone on CNN interviewed a “die-hard” Hillary supporter. That woman was ridiculous. If you watched the coverage on CNN, you know who I’m talking about. That’s all I’m going to say about her.

The Democratic National Convention finally go started in Denver. It really must be cool to attend such a historic event. I’m almost envious of a few of my colleagues (journalists) who are attending. Sure they are working; nonetheless, it still must be exciting.

Since I could not be there in person, decided to watch the keynote address by Michelle Obama on television—because I must prepared for the “office discussion” tomorrow. I think she did a great job—very comfortable, cool, calm and collected in front that crowd of millions.  I liked the video that they put together about her life. It really made her “real.” And I noticed some tears in the audience when she spoke about the day they brought their 10-year-old daughter home from the hospital.

How this time, in this great country — where a girl from the South Side of Chicago can go to college and law school, and the son of a single mother from Hawaii can go all the way to the White House — that we committed ourselves, we committed ourselves to building the world as it should be.

I had to get a pen and write down the quote, “…this time, we listened to our hopes, instead of our fears.” For the last 8 years this country has been operating of fear. The Bush administration has “ruled” using lies and fear. And if you didn’t agree with them, they labeled you unpatriotic and a supporter of terrorism. It’s time for this country to move out of the shadow of fear, and get back to hope.
